Why is it important?

E-readers continue to grow in popularity, particularly for aging and retired persons. The portability of multiple books makes the devices attractive for travelers. And the aging process is accompanied by decreased visual acuity. The adjustable foint size makes these devices attractive for this generation of users. The graying of the global population makes accessibility issues important for both users and designers of these devices.

Perspectives

Information and communication technology (ICT) device designers appear to lack attention in the design phase of devices. Accessibility should be at a high level of awareness and concern to make devices accessible for persons with access challenges based on physical impairmentts. Universal design approaches will make devices highly desirable for all populations.
