This paper analyzes the role that the sociocultural, family and university environment play in the entrepreneurial intention of young people in a peripheral and less innovative region.

Why is it important?

This paper highlight the link between innovation systems, entrepreneurial potential and economic development in peripheral and less innovative regions. Entrepreneurship education and motivation programs in universities are showed as an effective avenue to increase perceived attitude toward the option to start a new business in university students.

Perspectives

I think that the main contribution of this paper is to emphasize the role of entrepreneurial intention of young university students to break the vicious circle that limit the economic development in peripheral regions because of the existence of a weak innovation sistem
