What is it about?
The article discusses how practical impact for the work of optometrists has been created by using findings from a research project undertaken in close cooperation between social scientists and optometrists that has focused on the communication between optometrists and their patients. The impact of the outcomes were the production and dissemination of teaching and training material for practicing optometrists as well as optometry students. There also is some evidence that some optometrists who have engaged with the impact outcomes are changing how they arrange the furniture in their practices to facilitate more effective communication, and how they use the impact outcomes to change how they communicate with patients.
