The learning outcomes in higher education are supposed to promote, theoretically speaking, a student centered setting; however, a multiple case study proved that faculty members are misinterpreting what the learning outcomes are.

This study is important for higher education institutions because it sheds light on the teaching difficulties, their origins, and their relationship to the misused learning outcomes. As such, the findings and recommendations provide insight and practical solutions that can improve the higher education outcomes in answer to quality assurance criteria.
