What is it about?
This paper introduces a predictive homogenization model, considering electrical percolation, to predict the electrical properties of unidirectional carbon-epoxy laminate composites. The study involves calculating the electrical conductivity tensor for various ply arrangements, emphasizing phenomena around ply interfaces. These interface models are then integrated into a three-dimensional magneto-thermal model using the finite element method. The approach is compared with existing models through experimental measurements, highlighting the enhanced predictive capabilities of the proposed method. The study contributes to the understanding of interface effects in composite materials, offering valuable insights for improved simulations and practical applications.
