What is it about?

Does firm value differ across firm headquarter cities and why? This paper provides a first systematic analysis of geographic firm valuation differences in China. Our evidence suggests that city locational or historical comparative advantages in supplying human capital create long-lasting, and growing, shareholder wealth by attracting and retaining talents for local firms.
