What is it about?
As university students approach graduation, it’s important that they develop career-related competencies such as self-awareness, career planning, and networking to manage their transition to the labour market and to achieve career success. Our study showed that having a proactive personality is important for developing these competencies in all four of the countries we studied (Belgium, India, Ireland and the US). Furthermore, it suggests that having a belief that one needs to own and direct one’s career is more important in non-Anglo countries like Belgium and India, than in Anglo countries like the US and Ireland.
