The literature on sustainable careers is flourishing as evidenced by the recent handbooks, special issues and articles devoted to the topic. This paper critically assesses the ideological underpinnings of sustainable careers, and especially the neoliberal assumptions driving theory on sustainable careers. We propose a dignity-framework to study sustainable careers.
