What is it about?

The study examined the influence of leadership styles on collection development practices in academic libraries in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design with a population consisting of 86 library personnel drawn from six academic libraries. The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire adapted from existing articles. The findings indicate a high level of collection development practices, and the library managers adopt a mixture of leadership styles, with democratic style as the most engaged style, followed by autocratic and laissez-faire leadership styles. It also indicates that leadership styles have a significant influence on collection development practices in academic libraries in Ekiti State, while leadership styles have a joint effect on collection development practices. The study, therefore, concluded that the role of effective leadership in achieving the overall objectives of academic libraries cannot be overemphasized.
