What is it about?

This study aims to examine how integrating entrepreneurship education with multicultural values in Islamic boarding schools shapes students’ character development and readiness to navigate contemporary challenges. By examining the practices of the Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Maghfiroh Malang (PPBM), this research aims to understand how religious principles and direct experience foster students’ entrepreneurial skills and multicultural understanding.

Why is it important?

The findings show various business units at PPBM, providing hands-on experience and skill-building opportunities. Activities like Orchid and Mushroom Cultivation not only teach business management but also foster creativity and resilience. PPBM prioritizes religious values, cultivating integrity and trust among students, and laying a solid ethical groundwork for entrepreneurship. Additionally, it fosters multicultural understanding, creating a supportive environment for students from diverse backgrounds

Perspectives

The PPBM model offers a scalable and adaptable framework for faith-based or community-rooted institutions seeking to embed ethical entrepreneurship and multicultural values into their education systems. Institutions can replicate this model by: Providing consistent value-based mentoring alongside business training; Designing student-led entrepreneurial units that are ethically evaluated; Promoting cultural exchange and social cohesion in institutional design; Integrating Islamic or local ethical traditions as foundations for business practice.
