What is it about?

Proactive coping is important not only at work but also while searching for employment. Particularly in current global circumstances, proactive behavior becomes crucial while managing own lifelong career and safety while facing difficulties or crisis. Drawing from the transition perspective and predictions specified by the social-cognitive model of career self-management we examined the set of predictors of job search behavior in a sample of unemployed adult workers.

Why is it important?

Most of the training for the unemployed prepares them to react and adapt to ongoing circumstances. Our findings show proactive coping as an important factor in career development. This kind of coping is a central factor in career self-management, particularly during job-to-job transition among unemployed workers.

Perspectives

I believe our findings focus attention on the importance of proactive coping in managing one's own career, also during unemployment and job search.
