What is it about?

Why is it important?

It is important because employers are one of the key stakeholders for work placement of students. If they do not offer their time and workplace, the program will not run.

Perspectives

Unlike other professions such as health sciences (medicine, nursing, therapies), education (teaching) and built environment (architecture, engineering), accounting professionals are not required to do a university administered placement before graduation. A work placement is not part of mainstream accounting university degrees despite the educational advantages it offers. This research concentrates on the employers and what they have to say about the program and its importance. Hopefully, more accounting employers will be involved in work placement programs and therefore more students can benefit.
