What is it about?

This paper presents a new lens of considering informal urbanism in order to capture lessons that may help bridge the formal/informal divide. It presents the pedagogical approach of the international design charrette as a method to extract these global lessons, framing the consideration around design theory including Pattern Language. It concludes with a manifesto to capture these lessons.
