What is it about?

Paper starts with exploring the definitions of the film trailer. In showing that a definition is lacking the paper then goes on to demonstrate how we can define a popular genre (the trailer) through using YouTube, and the Public Press. It suggests that the trailer has shifted away from the film industry to promoting any experiential product.

Why is it important?

Everyone uses the term 'film trailer' or 'trailer' and assumes it has a working definition, the result is that when academics, the press, or even legal regulation use 'trailers' they're working with a 'obvious understanding' that has not been checked.
