Why is it important?

Confrontation has only been studies as personal attacks and attempts to "break down denial." While these behaviors have destructive impacts, confrontation defined as warnings about potential harm (supportive confrontation) were experienced as supportive and helpful.

Perspectives

The paper is important because some types of interactions that are confrontational are experienced as helpful and we need research to differentiate helpful from destructive confrontation.
