What is it about?

This study used innovation typology proposed by Damanpour and colleagues to examine which of two innovation adoption criteria – focus on adopting a specific type or focus on adopting composition of different types – optimize returns to innovation.

Why is it important?

Extant literature points to several innovation types, yet theories of innovation adoption conflicts one another on the implication of adopting innovation types. The study proposes to resolve conflicting theoretical predictions and ongoing policy disputes about the effects on business performance of the adoption of a specific innovation type versus composition of different innovation types.
