What is it about?

Patients’ movement in mental health facilities is frequently compromised. The paper finds that accessibility within mental healthcare facilities is a complex issue and examines several community mental healthcare units in two countries, focusing on the restrictions of movement and the use of universal accessibility devices.

Why is it important?

This paper readdresses the traditional view of accessibility by suggesting what needs to be better developed for mental healthcare facilities, since that kind of facilities are rarely designed for the model of care which they will house.
