What is it about?

Cumulative sum (CUSUM) analysis is a well-known statistical process control technique that enables users to identify points in time where ‘performance’ has substantially deviated from the norm. Although widely used in other sectors, CUSUM remains almost unheard of in sport business management. In this study, we show for the first time that CUSUM can be used to evaluate the impact of managerial change on team performance in professional soccer. Our results suggest that most historical managerial changes have minimal impact on long-term team performance.
