What is it about?
Our research investigates how the construction industry can greatly benefit from integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Building Information Management (BIM), Blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), alongside smart planning approaches like the work breakdown structure (WBS) and Agile thinking. BIM facilitates the creation of digital models of buildings, enabling improved visualisation and planning. Blockchain offers a secure means of keeping records that guarantees the integrity and secure sharing of data across the internet, whilst IoT allows for the real-time monitoring of construction sites through smart devices. By merging these technologies, our study suggests that construction projects can achieve better collaboration, increased efficiency, cost reductions, and superior quality outcomes. The investigation began with an exhaustive review of existing literature, followed by a survey among industry professionals to corroborate our conceptual framework. The encouraging results demonstrate that such a holistic approach not only enhances current construction practices but also lays the foundation for future innovations, making the sector more transparent, secure, and efficient. This study is an appeal for the construction sector to embrace these technological advancements for improved project results.
