What is it about?
Like other non-heterosexuals, gay men fear having to return to the closet if in old age they have to move out of their home and into an old-age facility. Like everyone else, they fear being alone or lonely in old age. This article examines their fears and concerns and shows that some that are peculiar to them because of their sexuality and others are similar to those held by the general population.
Why is it important?
It alerts clinicians, care workers, owners and managers of aged care facilities, and policy makers to the special needs of this cohort of aged baby boomers.
