What is it about?
Our research has found evidence to suggest that the relationship between a family's emotional attachment to their business and their willingness to take risks in their business is influenced by their relationships with other people and organizations (called "relational capital"). This is important because it helps us understand how family businesses make decisions and run their businesses. Other researchers have also found this relationship to be meaningful. This study found that emotional attachment to the business does influence a family's willingness to take risks. Still, this influence is also affected by how good the family is at building relationships with others.
