What is it about?

As the population grows, the management of garbage becomes a challenge for African big cities such as Johannesburg. Households are therefore encouraged to separate their garbages before disposal. This study found that households are most likely to separate their garbages when they intend to and have developed this habit. The intention to separate the garbage results from the internal obligation to do so, the perception of others approving such behaviour and the awareness of potential consequences when failing to do so.
