What is it about?

Even before social networking services existed, slander by anonymous people, even through media such as letters and phone calls, existed. We have shown why such caustic moral communication is possible in a modern society where a certain level of respect for the values of others is shared, and we have identified the characteristic forms of moral communication.

Why is it important?

This study reveals that the very condition that makes moral communication possible enables people to communicate respectfully or contemptuously with others without any special qualification. Such an analysis can serve as a theoretical underpinning for the analysis of today’s phenomena.
