What is it about?
Inert and living systems behave so differently that their study is allotted to opposing branches of science. We show that these opposites are in fact two limiting regimes of a single behavioral model connected by continuous phase transition.

Why is it important?
The developed model facilitates the design of more efficient collective organizations. In social systems, the model predicts a novel advanced regime beyond the traditional individualism-collectivism dichotomy.
Perspectives
Our work shows an approach to integrate soft and hard sciences. Diverse physical, biological, and social systems follow common regularities revealed by the encompassing modeling paradigm sketched in the paper.
