What is it about?

The operation process of the technical system change its technical position. Due to the stochastic nature of the process, especially in the case of complex and crucial technical it is very difficult to make proper decisions to perform the operation of the system in a rational way. In this paper the expert system for supporting this objective is presented. In the system, the model of the operation process, in a form of the Markov chain embedded into a semi-Markov process was implemented. The model was used to predict the possible flows of the operation process. Decisions made during the flow determine the quality of the operation. Subsequently, the flows were expressed in the quality space of the process formulated by its quality features set. In the space the flow should belong to one of the specified quality subspaces in order to be taken into the further considerations. Finally, the flows were assessed by a system of criteria defined for each quality feature of the process. The assessment of the flows is interpreted as a Multi-objective analysis problem and achieved by implementing the SMART method. By generating the total degree for each flow of the process, the expert system supports the optimisation of the technical system operation, choosing the best maintenance strategy. The application of the expert system created in case of the real industrial system is presented at the end of the paper.
