What is it about?
Place attachment drives residents to lead community action. We show how to examine the place attachment processes to improve place management and development. Greater understanding improves community agency to drive local solutions that match the values of the community and further strengthening place attached and agency.

Why is it important?
Community leadership is important for resilience and adaptability of regional communities and to retain place identity and belonging.
Perspectives
People often wonder why their friends volunteer to lead their community given the many challenges. The most important reason is sociability and having a sense of collective purpose with friends that is personally rewarding. I found this research a great insight into my own life and the community around me.
