What is it about?
People with developmental disorders who engage in offending behaviour often present with histories of early trauma. Many of the tools used to assess risk for violence include items related to childhood trauma and were developed for neurotypical populations. The findings show that the inclusion of trauma items on these tools may inflate risk scores for people with developmental disorders exposed to childhood trauma.
