Why is it important?
Information technology is changing the world faster than any previous technological revolution. This is generating many ethical challenges in most cultures worldwide. Fortunately, there is an underlying ethical foundation in most cultures — Flourishing Ethics — that can provide guidance for creating new laws and new social policies to meet the growing ethical challenges of the Digital Age.
Perspectives
I accept Norbert Wiener's claim that our universe is made of just two things: energy and information. This explains why information technology can change the world so quickly. It also explains my view that computer and information ethics is the most important ethical development in centuries.
