What is it about?

This paper examines how some entrepreneurs approached increasing national polarization, something that has lasting policy consequences, by creating Parler; a niche social media site for disenchanted right-wing users. Given this natural echo chamber, we tested the Theory of Group Polarization by empirically analyzing whether or not polarization in this community increased or decreased after the January 6th attack on the Capitol. We find evidence that there is more complexity to polarization than the theory would predict.
