Perspectives
Entrepreneurship is a cornerstone of the UAE's vision for a diversified, sustainable economy. From my perspective, this study not only sheds light on the factors driving entrepreneurial intentions among Emirati students but also underscores the critical role of education, government policies, and societal attitudes in shaping future business leaders. Empowering Emirati Youth: The findings reveal a gap between entrepreneurial aspirations and active participation. I believe bridging this gap requires targeted efforts to nurture self-efficacy and reduce the fear of failure. Emirati youth represent a vital resource for the UAE’s long-term economic growth, and fostering their entrepreneurial spirit is an investment in the nation’s future. Policy and Institutional Support: The study highlights the influence of university and government support in fostering entrepreneurial intentions. I see this as a call to action for policymakers and educational institutions to strengthen their efforts in providing practical training, mentorship, and access to resources, ensuring a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. Cultural Shifts: Changing societal attitudes toward entrepreneurship, particularly reducing stigma around failure and promoting risk-taking, is essential. I envision a cultural shift where entrepreneurship is celebrated as a viable and prestigious career path, aligning with the UAE's strategic goals. Global Relevance: While this study focuses on Emirati students, its insights are valuable for other nations seeking to leverage entrepreneurship for economic diversification. I hope it serves as a blueprint for fostering youth entrepreneurship in similar socio-economic contexts worldwide.
