What is it about?
Tourism values the environment's most significant qualities, such as stunning landscapes, flora and fauna, heritage, cultural environment, and local communities. Tourism has the potential to stimulate local economic development by generating high-quality work opportunities and new opportunities for business etc. Dooars region in West Bengal, known for its wildlife sanctuaries and national parks offers great vacation experiences for travellers. The objective is to evaluate various stakeholders' knowledge and awareness of eco-tourism developments in the study region, for understanding the local community's attitudes as well as to give critical information on the influence of eco-tourism and how sustainable development can be carried out in Dooars region. The quantitative methodology has been used to evaluate the link between the factors of awareness and the need for education among stakeholders and local communities in the region for the growth of ecotourism. It has been noted that educated inhabitants have a favourable attitude towards the effects of tourism and are supportive of its expansion. Educated locals had a more favourable opinion of improving facilities, image, and infrastructure and promoting the region as an eco-tourism destination, as compared to less educated locals in the research area. The significant of this study is the observation that for attracting tourists and creating employment, concerned stakeholders and local communities should be sufficiently educated so that they understand the importance of eco-tourism development in that area.
