This study enhances the importance of customer focus and technology and innovation management research. Innovation drives the growth. Innovation should be focused on customer needs and preferences, preferable hidden needs.

Perspectives

I had intense interaction with my co-authors while developing this article. All three co-authors are outstanding researchers and together they published more that 500 articles in top journals. Their insights make this article a piece worth reading. This article also includes brief interviews with select Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) from our respondent organizations. The information shared during the interview by the CTOs helped in interpretation of results.
