Why is it important?

The increase of knowledge regarding access in higher education among students has not yet been assessed in Qatar’s higher education sector. We draw attention to the services and commitments, and thus this study attempts to compare students with disabilities to those without disabilities in Qatar.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. Although much work has been done to include students with disabilities at Qatar’s national public university, particularly regarding the development of appropriate adaptations of educational curricula for students with disabilities, we feel that this issue remains largely ignored. Thus, it is important to remember that the improvement of services requires that information about these services be available to all students. Part of the quality assurance initiative and accreditation process at this university was to implement university-wide initiatives to assess access and services in the area of curricula in addition to educational information technology, services and amenities.
