Political violence against former combatants in Colombia: a brief reflection on the effects of collective demobilization on women

What is it about?

The end of the militant careers of women who have participated as combatants in armed conflicts is due, among other factors, to the persistence of political violence against ex-combatants in the so-called post-conflict periods. Through three main testimonies, this paper highlights the importance of analyzing this phenomenon from a differential gender approach. Although it focuses on processes that date back several decades, it highlights the need - still current - to guarantee security and political participation for ex-combatant women as political subjects with a key role in peace building.
