Why is it important?

Social and group polarisation is a huge issue in the globalised world. Understanding the drivers and consequences of it, as well as figuring out how to diminish it, are therefore crucial.

Perspectives

This publication provides novel insights into the phenomenon through a linguistic analysis. We find that the language players use correlates with the team they belong to, and that players have negative feelings towards slang words associated with specific players and player groups with whom they are at odds with.
