Why is it important?
This study provides unique insights into the factors shaping zakat payment intentions in Ethiopia, highlighting critical areas for improvement within the zakat collection and distribution framework. These findings provide a foundation for developing policies to foster a more effective zakat system that aligns with Ethiopia’s sociocultural dynamics.
Perspectives
The primary objective of this study is to identify the factors that affect the intention of muzakki to pay zakat in Ethiopia. Specifically, this study aims to examine the socio-economic factors influencing the intention to pay zakat, analyse the role of religious beliefs and practices in shaping zakat payment intentions, assess the effectiveness of existing zakat collection institutions in Ethiopia and propose policy recommendations to enhance zakat collection and distribution.
