Banking system stability in the MENA region: the impact of market power and capital requirements on banks’ risk-taking behavior

What is it about?

To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study to empirically examine the implications of the SCP hypothesis for the banking sectors in the MENA region (Islamic and conventional) and banks’ risk-taking behavior under different competitive conditions. Hence, this study is a unique contribution to the literature of Islamic banking and finance with strong policy implication for improving financial stability in the MENA region.
