What is it about?

This study introduces the University Handprint Framework, a new way for universities to measure their positive environmental and social impacts—called handprints. While many tools focus on tracking what universities consume or emit (their footprint), this framework helps them show the benefits of their sustainability actions, especially those that go beyond campus. Given the pivotal role universities play in disseminating research, sustainability education, and leading climate change mitigation efforts, it is essential to showcase the positive impacts of these actions.
