What is it about?
We show how complexity theory can be applied to the public sphere by analyzing a social change organization's public problem-solving approach in an informal settlement in Iran.

Why is it important?
It is important since it provides a leadership framework through which complex social and administrative challenges in informal settlemts could be analyzed and practical activities could be designed to address such challenges. In doing so, it benefits from both scholars and practitioners' perspectives.
Perspectives
According to UN-Habitat, about one billion people live in slums and informal settlemts. These area are facing negatively sustainable systems of complex adaptive challenges that need scholar practitioners' attention. This article is important in a sense that it builds connections between theory and practice in addressing such challenges by reflecting on a community based leadership effort.
