A systematic literature review exploring the psychosocial aspects of palliative care provision for incarcerated persons: a human rights perspective

What is it about?

As terminally ill persons approach end-of-life, they can experience a range of psychosocial stressors. This is no different for a person in prison. However, issues such as negative public discourse, prison processes and resources, provider attitudes and matters relating to mistrust, add complexity. This study highlights access to palliative care, with the inclusion of psychosocial care, is a human right for all, despite a person's legal status.
