Exploring continuous improvement and Industry 4.0 integration through the lens of the digital transformation pyramid

What is it about?

Many factories want to improve their processes and also adopt new digital technologies but they’re not sure how to do both together. We looked at research from the past decade to understand how traditional improvement tools (like Lean and Six Sigma) are being updated using digital technologies from Industry 4.0. We found relevant studies and used them to develop a simple framework showing how these tools are evolving from being just digitized to becoming fully data-driven. This can help factory managers choose the right technologies to improve efficiency and stay competitive in the digital age.
