Implementing supply chain sustainability efforts such as energy efficiency improvements, waste reduction, or environmental certification can cause supply chain risks such as cost increases, supply constraints, or lost reputation. Managing supply chain sustainability and risk management independently from each other is inefficient – yet many companies pursue this approach. We explain why and how sustainability end risk management in supply chains should be part of the same management system.
