What is it about?

This study looks at how to make hospitals more sustainable and ready for climate change, focusing on the challenges estate and facilities managers face. The research involved workshops with NHS facilities managers and experts to discuss how to improve existing hospitals. Estate and facilities managers are crucial for hospital sustainability but face challenges in managing assets, finances, and organisational development. Hospitals need clear goals to support their mission. Many rely too much on past practices. Using a method called backcasting, facilities managers can set future goals and plan for climate and healthcare changes.
