What is it about?

This article is about what Brexit might mean for HR. It offers speculation into four different topics: 1) retention and recruitment; 2) labour market skill-set; 3) immigration from outside of the EU; and 4) flexible working arrangements. By drawing on comparisons from the global financial crisis, propositions are offered for the impact that Brexit might have on employee resourcing.

Why is it important?

Brexit is an unknown that has the potential to significantly impact work and employment in the UK. While Brexit is unprecedented it is important that we consider what it might mean for HR and what we can do now to prepare ourselves for the future.

Perspectives

Brexit has caused a massive amount of uncertainty but we can consider how other periods of uncertainty, such as the global economical crisis, impact work and employment and use this as a starting point to help navigate the future.
