What is it about?
The case deals with a century-old family business group, one of South India's oldest and most respected business houses ,which has had a males-only policy for family members on the family board. It finds itself in a predicament, when the former executive chairman and grandson of the group's founder passes away, leaving behind his wife and two daughters. The case examines the challenges that the family has to face, when the eldest daughter makes a claim for a seat on the family board opening up a potential battle between tradition, gender equality, and shareholder rights.
