What is it about?
As predominantly white Ozark communities are experiencing an uptick in diversity, the influence of microaggressions on residents has become a central topic of concern. This study embarked on an exploration of such influences, aiming to shed light on the myriad challenges faced by marginalized groups. We investigate the often subtle, yet pervasive landscape of microaggressions and their subsequent implications on marginalized groups. Our objectives are threefold: (i) understand the profound impact of these microaggressions; (ii) employ Critical Race Theory to delve into the historical and current-day phenomena of "othering"; and (iii) offer actionable recommendations that can guide these communities towards fostering a more inclusive environment in the face of rapidly shifting demographics.
