What is it about?
To derive the transformer core hysteresis characteristic from terminal current and voltage measurements is challenging. To overcome the challenges during the measurement, a special test – the DC hysteresis test – was developed and tested on transformers of different size. Moreover, the DC hysteresis test is used to parametrise two transformer topology models with two different hysteresis models. The comparison of the measured and calculated no-load currents of both models reveal good accuracy.
