What is it about?
The emergence of ESBL and CMY-2 enzymes-E. coli strains from animal food for human consumption, which represent a public health challenge, since these strains can be reservoirs of resistance and virulence genes that could potentially be transmitted to humans by direct contact or through the food chain and cause severe illness.
