What is it about?

Given the increased relevance of health and safety issues, we have analysed the extent to which health and safety action controls, results controls and informal controls affect the integration of health and safety issues into management actions, which in turn leads to improve health and safety performance. The analysis provides an in-depth interdisciplinary analysis of the effectiveness of different control mechanisms in the context of H&S.

Workplace safety is very important for each and every employee in all the industries because all the workers desire to work in a safe and protected environment. Companies need to focus on it and constantly design actions in order to improve their health and safety performance. The paper provides an in-depth interdisciplinary analysis of the effectiveness of different control mechanisms in the context of health and safety that hitherto has rarely been investigated despite the multiple importance of the topic.

Perspectives

We have written this article with the aim to increase the interest in employee health and safety issues and its organisational implications. It is an area very interesting which offer a huge set of possibilities for doing interdisciplinary accounting and management research and contribute to theoretical issues and practical and policy aspects.
