What is it about?

The paper describes approaches for rapid collection of single-particle cryo-EM data on JEOL CRYO ARM300 electron microscope. We show that a collection rate exceeding 10,000 images per day can be achieved while preserving the high-resolution of the collected images.

Why is it important?

JEOL CRYO ARM300 is a relatively new electron microscope and little data describing its performance are available. We show that the performance of the microscope is very similar to that of the Thermo Fisher Titan Krios microscope widely adapted by structural biologists. Furthermore, we discuss the limits and suggest further possible improvements to the microscope and collection strategies that can further increase the throughput of the data collection on CRYO ARM300.


This work was done with the hope that it can serve people to improve their data collection practices and help structural biologists to make a more informed choice when choosing which instrument to acquire.
